Import Axon evidence into a matter
Connect the firm’s Axon account once, then watch a share notice turn into a folder of downloaded evidence filed under the right cause number, ready to read.
Before you start
You need a matter already standing on the Case Board, with its cause number and its Google Drive folder tree in place, because the evidence has to land somewhere and that somewhere is the matter’s own folder. You also need the firm’s Axon connection seeded once by a person. The Machine reuses that one session; it never logs in behind your back and never defeats a login challenge, so a human signs in the first time and the automation rides along from there.
1. Connect the Axon account once
Open the integration setup and link the firm’s Axon Justice account. This is the one place a human hand is required: someone signs in, clears any multi-factor step, and authorizes the connection. The Machine records the session and reuses it from then on, which is what keeps many automations from fighting over one account or triggering a login storm.
2. The share notice arrives in the inbox
The State produces digital evidence through Axon, and when it does, an Axon Justice share notice lands in the firm inbox like any other email. You do not have to forward it, label it, or drag anything onto a thumb drive. The hourly evidence watch reads the inbox on its own and recognizes the share notice for what it is.
3. The sweep refreshes the registry and pulls the originals
On its hourly pass, the evidence watch refreshes the Axon registry across the firm’s active cases and the recent share notices, then downloads the evidence originals. Body-cam clips, dash-cam video, the 911 audio, the interrogation recording, the scene photographs: the actual files the State recorded, pulled down whole rather than as a preview.
4. Each file is checked so nothing lands twice
Before anything is filed, every file is checked against what the matter already holds, by evidence ID, by file hash, by Drive file ID, and by matter number. A clip the State produced once and re-shared does not get downloaded or filed a second time. The result is one clean copy of each piece of evidence, not a folder with three of everything from three sweeps.
5. The files file themselves into the matter folder
The downloaded originals are placed in the matter’s own Drive folder, under the cause number the Case Board already opened, in the evidence subfolder built for exactly this. The matter is the container and the source is only metadata, so a second share notice on the same case lands in the same folder rather than spawning a new one. The Machine then writes an evidence note back onto the matter, so the record knows what arrived and when.
6. The matter is marked ready to read
With the originals filed and noted, a review-ready signal goes out and the files sit waiting for the next act. Nothing has been interpreted yet. The download and filing are the machine’s work; reading the tape and deciding what the silence at a given second means is the lawyer’s. The evidence is in place, attached to the matter, and ready for the Evidence Orchestrator to read in one controlled run.
What you have now
The State’s raw evidence is downloaded, deduplicated, and filed under the right cause number in the matter’s own Drive folder, with an evidence note on the record and a review-ready signal raised. You never touched a thumb drive, never retyped a cause number, and never logged in twice. The appointed defender has the same organized evidence a fully resourced office would have, sitting in the one place the rest of the matter already runs, ready to be read.
